A large acute hospital that provides services to Ministry of Interior personnel and their families. The hospital has 508 inpatient beds and provides medical, surgical, clinical and specialty care. NICU (Level 3 Unit) 36 cots. 12 ITU cots, 12 High Dependency cots and 12 Special care cots. Admissions are from either the labour and delivery suite or from the gynaecology nursery and include medical and surgical infants from 24 weeks gestation to term. Once admitted infants are stabilised and treatment provided. Teaching has been a major role within this unit to improve standards of care. During my time in the Unit I have set up a Journal Club to look at current evidence and help develop up to date protocols and procedures. The Unit is in the early stages of working towards MAGNET Accreditation and I am the Chair of the Unit Based Council who will be linking with staff and management during the accreditation process.
