Whilst at Reed Travel Exhibitions, I worked in a number of different roles: Nov 2000 – Oct 2002 Marketing Manager, Overseas Events Responsible for all marketing activity on Arabian Travel Market (held in Dubai), Mediterranean Travel Fair (Cairo), CIS Travel Market (St Petersburg) and International Golf Travel Market (Sun City and Biarritz). My responsibilities included: managing a team of 3 staff; writing detailed marketing plans for each event; setting and managing marketing budgets for each event; planning and managing international direct mail and advertising campaigns; writing press releases and copy; managing external suppliers; working with show partners including senior personnel at tourism boards, airlines etc; presenting at steering committees representing RTE; organising seminar programmes and conducting an annual press tour to the Middle East to promote events. June 2003–Dec 2003 Marketing Manager, World Travel Market I worked as Marketing Manager on Reed’s flagship event, employed on a six month contract to cover another colleague’s maternity leave. My responsibilities were as outlined above but in this role I managed a team of 5 staff, a larger budget and achieved a 9% increase on the number of event visitors (approx. 25,000). Jan 2004 - Dec 2006 Marketing / Business Development Manager, City Break I project managed the launch of a new event, City Break. This involved undertaking detailed industry research; sourcing relevant associations and partners; planning the event format; managing the launch budget; drawing up target lists of exhibitors and buyers and writing the business plan itself. Once the event had been given the go-ahead, I continued working on it as Marketing Manager. Ultimately, the event exceeded its financial target and attracted over 500 city break specialists from 33 countries.
