By creating a community for those with an interest in maritime law, the Admiralty and Maritime Law Society will build a strong foundation for students wishing to pursue a career in the maritime industry. By drawing on the University of San Francisco School of Law’s large alumni network in maritime law and partnering with our prominent Maritime Law Journal, the Admiralty and Maritime Law Society will cultivate future maritime lawyers and establish USF School of Law as the premier maritime law school on the West Coast.

Responsible for acting as the liaison between the Journal and the maritime community, which included planning and coordinating activities that involved the Journal such as the externship placement program and the Board of Advisors meeting. Planned the 25th MLJ Anniversary Event including generating over $5000 in donations from Bay Area maritime attorneys. Further acted as the liaison between the Journal and the USF community. This included providing information about the Journal at school sponsored events, working with the administration to resolve Journal related issues, organizing Technical Editor training and recruitment efforts, as well as being in charge of the USF MLJ Twitter feed and Facebook page. Acted as a support position for the Editor-in-Chief, providing whatever assistance they needed in order to produce a timely, finished publication.

The Environmental Law Society (ELS) exists to enhance the law school experience by fostering the study and awareness of legal issues surrounding sustainability and the environment. Through our various networking opportunities, professional resources and referrals for clinical placements, ELS seeks to inspire, support, and train the next generation of environmental leaders. In addition, ELS works with other organizations on campus to promote sustainable events by educating student leaders and by setting event sustainability standards. In years past, ELS has hosted symposia that focused on pertinent environmental issues such as clean technology, renewable energy, energy efficiency, and water law. ELS members have actively participated in the annual water law symposium conducted by a diverse consortium of California law schools.
