I held executive responsibility for group- wide people related policy, with a key focus on operational excellence and business transformation. I had accountability for all employee and industrial relations including National trade union management; reward and recognition across three pay bargaining frameworks and up to and including all executive level compensation and benefits; health and welfare; recruitment, resourcing, talent and succession; corporate governance including risk and compliance through forums such as audit committee, pension committee and human capital management programme assurance. I established my team in a true business partnering model consisting of 20 HR professionals managing circa 2500 staff across multiple sites. In addition my role also covered the HR requirements of two subsidiary businesses.I am experienced in M&A due diligence and have executed this both in the UK and Europe. I am comfortable with the principles and execution of TUPE. My role required commercial acumen and the ability to influence a broad range of stakeholders both internal and external.I was successfully selected to join the CBI Leadership programme in 2014-2015. This is a year long programme that offers an exclusive opportunity for senior business leaders to develop their skills to better read, influence and understand the external environment including government and the wider political landscape. As part of the programme I spent time in central and regional UK government as well as time in Brussels and Washington DC. Post the course concluding I was appointed to the CBI North East Regional panel and the CBI HRD working group. In 2015 my team won the CIPD North East HR&D award for Health and Wellness and were recognised as a finalist for the Change Management initiative of the year. Show less

Human Resources Business Partner, Employee Relations
-
Apr 2007 - Jun 2016
As HR Business Partner, Employee Relations, I was responsible for the management and consistent application of several collective agreements, including all non-pay related negotiated changes; maintaining effective trade union relationships through the management of the collectively bargained machinery for dispute resolution and formal consultation across four trade union groups; setting standards of conduct and performance and upholding them through disciplinary and capability management procedures; and, management of the company-wide health and welfare agenda. I took the opportunity to lead an HCM Programme implementation in 2012. The programme was a multi million IT investment to replace and redesign the HR and Payroll IT interface, infrastructure and service delivery. The programme covered circa 7000 staff and pensioners. I managed the programme from concept to go live, selecting and working with a specialist technical partner to ensure the project was fit for purpose as well as delivered on time and to budget. The project timelines and the level of cultural and process reengineering while hugely ambitious were delivered successfully. I led a dedicated team of 10 expanding to a wider team of 40 with specialist resources across four external platforms. Show less
