Linda has an amazing eye for detail and a brilliant analytical mind that has directly contributed to some of the most streamlined and elegant software solutions that I had the pleasure of working on. I can put down my time under Linda as an incredible experience where I was continually learning and challenging myself. I look forward to the day when we can work together again!

So trying to semi retired didn't work! Also, trying to ignore Linkedin didn't work!! So have given in and renewed the password.I am currently having the most fun I have had in my working career being involved in a number of projects:Managing, with the help of some very talented people (Chris Hector of iTSi, the crew at AFI and a few more) a project to fix our SCADA system of some unwanted bad habits;the DIA RFI for councils in preparation of the 3 waters merger - lots and lots of data gathering and analysis in an obscenely short time frame (who needed a Christmas anyway);Working with the 3 Waters asset data standards (hopefully the team will end up with something that most councils can implement);Regression testing Assetfinda V4 so that I can make the change from V3 to V4 (it's a rather big conversion exercise which I probably won't get back to until February because none of us, including Assetfinda can fit this in as well as everything else over Dec/Jan);and finally, getting all water & wastewater treatment assets into the AMS along with some logical optimised replacement costs ready for these to be revalued next year.Thank goodness I have an amazing team of very clever pedantic perfectionists who are doing a sterling job of helping our asset managers and sundry contractors with all sorts of queries resulting from the shovel ready projects as well as making sure that the day to day stuff that always needs to be done gets done. Working as an independent associate of Dr Jonathan Farrell. We are currently researching: the application of ITIL3 to practical development of IT services; the application of the provisions of the Kyoyo Protocol and various country specific relative legislations to the costing and design of services - specifically to enhance competitiveness of service providors. We are also designing some new half day seminars based upon our extensive experience with IT projects - both running them and auditing them - watch this space for more updates on this soon. Having got thoroughly fed up with the management culture that I have witnessed in NZ and the overwhelming reluctance to face up to the level of deep thinking required to resolve some issues, I have chosen to protect my sanity and gracefully retire from the business world. That doesn't mean that I have lost interest - far from it! However, I can do quite a lot by working independently in my own time. Being a victim of the NZ government's zeal for road building I have been spending my time analysing the NZ Public Works Act and the NZ Resource Management Act. I am working on producing some documents that explain in plain English the provisions of those Acts for other innocent victims. Anyone out there who has got stories to tell of how they have been affected / treated by their various governments implementing Public Works - I would love to hear from you. Having got through the first year since my husband's death, I am now starting to put my skills and experience to use in my adopted new home town of Taupo. Helping some small start-ups and small businesses that need a bit of a hand to get to the next step. All very informal but lots of fun and very rewarding. Show less
