  Cheer Counseling is interested in working with Psychiatrists in the Brandon, Florida area for mutual referrals. We also have an opening for a part-time in-house psychiatrist. Many of our clients are in need of psychiatric services such as medication, which we are presently unable to provide.

  I got my counseling degree at USF and did my internship at Self- Reliance, DACCO and Vocational Rehabilitation. I worked with felony offender drug addicts in group therapy with Joni Stewart for almost 5 years before opening Cheer Counseling in 2006. I've been a published author for 20 years and write mostly about social issues. I realized that I was treated as a business and money provider rather than as a person by most of the counselors I tried.   Cheer Counseling is a rapidly growing counseling center. We focus on short term therapy techniques such as REBT and Solution Focused. Our clients are typically self-referred and living in the local Brandon area. Most of them are employed and carry private health insurance, so State licensure is necessary in order for us (and you) to get paid. We do have a limited number of hours available for registered counselors working on licensure.We often see couples, and we are looking for licensed counselors who are strong in couples counseling. Other areas of expertise that we are looking for are: depression, anxiety, trauma, substance abuse, children and adolescents. Cheer is a happy place to work. Our counselors are down-to-earth real people. We don't welcome those who are pretentious, gossips or trouble-makers. We want this to remain a wonderful and friendly working environment.
