Worked closely with design and product to build responsive pages (i.e. https://asana.com/pricing). Responsible for signup flows to the app -- most critical part of the business site. Streamlined original logic and maintained that simplicity while adding new tiers of signups and enabling trial signups. Responsible for experimentation efforts and created A/B testing best practices. Often on-call to deploy the site daily and ensure the site was up and running. We used a CMS (Statamic) so that non-technical stakeholders could create pages as well. Our deploy process built Statmic pages into static assets onto an AWS Elastic Beanstalk app and we used Fastly as our CDN to further improve performance.

I worked as a front-end engineer on our most business-critical pages (home page, search page, vehicle details page). My primary focus was building new features and improving performance (time to interaction and time to visibility). Everything was unit tested (mocha/chai) and oftentimes E2E (protractor) as well. An important project of mine was moving key features of the homepage out of Angular and into vanilla JS on the front-end while also moving a lot of the logic into our server-side rendering engine (saving almost 20 seconds of load time on slow mobile connections). This had the additional benefit of making the homepage compatible with Internet Explorer (at the time over 10% of our user base). The success of this project shifted performance to a primary focus of the company.
