[Broad foundation] This phase of my career in HUPSteel allowed for me to be rotated between different subsidiaries within the HUPSteel group of companies with a primary focus in the logistics, sales and procurement. This enabled me to have an in depth understanding of the overall operations for the company's core business of trading in finished steel products.[International exposure and network] The esteemed reputation of the company provided me with an opportunity to extend the reach of my network to many key players of the steel manufacturing industry across the world. This international coverage of contacts and numerous travels to touch base with business counter parts overseas allowed for me to build upon the strong interpersonal skill sets needed for working with people across different cultures and backgrounds. [Account and team management skills] Towards the later stage of my trainee phase I was tasked to work with a subordinate to manage a portfolio of customers. Motivational skills were put to the test by pushing my subordinate to work towards the same goal. Customer management skills were also put to the test by learning to strike the balance between working around the limitations of the organisation to satisfy the wants and needs of the customer.
