  As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, I used Autodesk Inventor and DWG TrueView in order to design and implement a new gearbox for Gerdau's Melt Shop Tundish Car Machine, taking the correct dimensions and determining the proper clearances and SPECs. -Manufactured a gearbox plate for the rolling mill in order to appeal to machinists and gather correct quotes for development. -Worked with the engineering managers, furnace, and ladle operators to understand and observe the process for melting long steel and how it transfers to the rolling mill for sizing and shipment. -Communicated with contractors and created Preliminary Risk Assessments for hazards and safety concerns in the different work areas. -Updated and added future multi-million dollar projects for the plant into a program called Planview.
