As a graduate in the Civilian Engineer Development Program (CEDP) I undertook 5 x 6 month rotations, based in the Navy Engineering Branch. This included time in the Hydromechanics and Ships, Boats and Interfaces Cells at the Naval Technical Bureau (NTB), where I completed complex Naval Architecture engineering tasks such as stability assessments, assisting in inclining and displacement check auditing and hydrodynamic simulations. I produced internal guiding documents and extended troubleshooting and procedure documentation, contributing to organisational knowledge transfer. I also 6 months at both BMT Defence and Security and the Naval Architecture and Platform System Analysis (NAPSA) division of DST in Melbourne. Finally, continuing to develop my core Naval Architecture skillset, I spent six months working in the Ship Structures Cell of NTB where I investigated, analysed and reported on a number of structural assessments.
