      I am an administrative assistant for the corporate patient safety and litigation team for the Buckinghamshire Healthcare Trust. My patient safety role consists of helping to ensure the efficient running of the team and liaising between divisions and executives.       I began my role as part of the temporary patient waiting list prioritisation team. I received calls from patients who had been sent a letter regarding potential delay in their treatment. I was able to deal with patients’ concerns in a professional yet warm manner, ensuring patient confidentiality and taking down as much information as possible. In the ERS team I managed to help remove the backlog of patient referrals that had built up during the period of national lockdown. My role was to enter these referrals onto the hospital system and ensure that any urgent referrals were booked immediately. I developed my ability to the point I was able to help train the new member of our team when he joined and help him with any queries. Efficiency and accuracy were both extremely important in the role as I had to simultaneously move through the workload efficiently owing to the sheer volume of referrals; yet had to be extremely diligent as no mistakes could be made. After managing to remove the backlog of referrals I removed the backlog of Advice and Guidance requests. This allowed that to become a daily task which really helped the team. Upon leaving the role I was contacted by the General Manager thanking me for the difference I had made. I have subsequently been asked to do some overtime work in this team by my previous manager to help with a new project. I will be doing this in my evenings after work.

I am currently drafting a new data retention policy for the business which involves a heavy amount of research and a strong understanding of medical data retention. Earlier in my role I was integral in upgrading the business support mechanisms such as changing the way communications are handled. Through a mixture of extensive research and negotiation I was able to save the company money on its monthly outgoing costs.
