Every year Auburn's Beat Bama Food Drive raises food and monetary donations for the Food Bank of East Alabama; this is in direct competition with the University of Alabama's "Beat Auburn Beat Hunger," which supports the Food Bank of West Alabama. This is a seven-week drive through the fall, and last year Auburn raised a total of 550,000 pounds of food. As the Vice President of Campus Relations, I will be creating fun events and initiatives to keep Auburn students engaged with our mission, while raising awareness for the issue of food insecurity. We have approximately 20 hours per week of events on and off campus, neighborhood drives, sorting at the food bank, and spreading awareness to the local community. Show less

I serve as a resource to Auburn University's student-athletes by providing additional instruction in various business-related courses. This consists of creating a study plan, preparing for our sessions ahead of time, managing a schedule of my appointments, and ensuring my reports are submitted on time to the appropriate administrator. I have to slow down and approach the problem from multiple different angles to help the athlete understand better. I have also attended training meetings to become a more effective communicator and quantify difficult concepts into simple terms. I have a passion for helping others and I love when I can help the athletes succeed in the classroom. Show less

I built relationships with a cabin of 13 campers to create a fun and safe camp experience. I also worked with two other co-counselors, upper staff, fellow lifeguards, and many others to help the camp run smoothly. I motivated the campers with a series of athletic challenges to boost morale, and this taught me a lot about leading a team. I also monitored the waterfront vigilantly to ensure camper safety; as a lifeguard, attention to detail is critical to camper safety.
