    • Jesuit Volunteer - Hispanic Ministry Associate
      • Aug 2016 - Jul 2017

As the Jesuit Volunteer for the office of Hispanic Ministry I learned how to create, organize, and implement events for Hispanic youth and young adults to better accompany them on their faith journeys; to provide opportunities to them that they have not had in the past. Events include days of reflection, Experience in Christ retreats, Archdiocesan Soccer Tournament, and collaborating with the South Eastern Pastoral Institute on writing a book. Additionally I worked closely with the Director of Youth Ministry to coordinate and create a committee of Hispanic and Non-Hispanic teens and young adults to discuss how we can better incorporate different cultures into our ministry work. Furthermore, I was a member of the Archdiocesan Team for the V Encuentro, an initiative that invites all Catholics in the United States to intense missionary activity, consultation, leadership development, and identification of best ministerial practices in the spirit of the New Evangelization. My role within the Archdiocesan Team was to attend meetings and present relevant information that'll catapult us deeper into the goals of the V Encuentro. In addition, I volunteered to assist in the immigration efforts our office was involved in. I assisted in filling out necessary paperwork for immigrants that came to our office but if we did not have the resources they were seeking I was trained to know where to redirect them. I sat down with clients to listen to their stories of heartache and developed professional relationships.

As an intern for Zambia Gold I had the opportunity to travel to the Northwestern Province of Zambia to accompany, serve, and learn at eye-level to build mutual solidarity with the local community. I learned to familiarize myself to the process by which our beekeepers obtain the honey we sell back in the States as a means to fully understand our mission and be able to bring others along on our journey. Upon my return to the states I engaged in community outreach efforts around the greater Spokane area to spread the story of the Zambezi community and the Zambia Gold mission. Additionally, as Manager of Public Relations I worked with a team to better promote the stories of our Zambian brothers and sisters through various forms of social media and campus events.
