Aug 2016 - Aug 2017
As an AmeriCorps VISTA at Monument Crisis Center, my main role is to coordinate the After School Cafe program at Monument Crisis Center. Monument Crisis Center is a food pantry and family resource center in Concord, CA. I manage volunteers who tutor the students of the program, providing support and guidance in order for them to successfully aide students with homework and other academic activities. I research and implement curriculum that focus on literacy and reading. Also, I collaborate with other partner agencies to provide presentations and programs that focus on some aspect of education and or health. Concurrently, my role is to also support Monument Crisis Center during its day-to-day functions. Monument provides nutritious food, community education, and referral services to low income families and individuals of Contra Costa County. Show less
