Wawoventures Summer Intern
-
May 2023 - Jun 2023
I participated in an internship this past summer that was a unique community service outreach experience. I worked with an ecotourism company, Wawoventures, where we travelled throughout Southeast Asia to remote villages providing English language classes and cultural education. Some of the tourist attractions include scuba-diving, snorkeling, cultural cooking, and waterfall hikes. As an intern, I participated and helped lead these villages trips. I welcomed in new guests and helped them acclimate to a new culture. I gained practical experience in cross cultural relations and adapting to different work environments. As well as invaluable cultural experiences, I developed a niche passion for bridging the gap between differing ways of life, religion, and appearance. I found that in the disparity between myself and a native, there is similarity in the states of our hearts, and we found commonality and friendship. During this internship, I served as the finance administrator for my team. I worked with cash journals, petty cash, participant allowances, budgeting, and working with nonprofit tax exemptions. I am highly motivated and eager to apply my skills, passion, and knowledge to tackle real-world financial challenges. Show less
