Team Leader
-
Apr 2008 - Nov 2013
Established and managed a team of volunteers as we run a weekly music program for families in our local community. Developed strong relationships with the local community that continue to this day. Chaired regular meeting. Provided support and advocacy to families during hardship. Wrote successful small grants applications and developed short surveys to support these applications to facilitate the growth of the program in our area. Mentored other local mainly music teams as they developed their own programs. Handled program administration and efficiently received and processed cash and managed a budget. As an off shoot to this role I also ran toolbox parenting workshops for local parents covering three age groups 0-6 years, 6-12 years and 12-18 years. Show less

Social Worker
-
Jan 2005 - Jan 2006
During my time as a social worker I managed a case load of twelve children; four were from an Indigenous family. I had the opportunity to work in partnership with Aboriginal Family Support Services. This role included case management, child protection investigations, assessments, planning, interventions and court matters. I saw firsthand children in foster care and how this affected them, their families of origin and their foster families. Since having my own children I now see things through the lens of a mother and it has changed my world view. Show less
