I worked on automation software for media published to Worldwide FM. This project lasted a number of months but was unsuccessful due to balancing University and work. I started out as an Intern at Umber, with the aim of making money better for young people. This has been at the forefront of our principles and I kept it into mind with everything I worked on. Umber has been incredibly rewarding to work on as I worked alongside the CEO Lucas Johnston and meant that I could work on something that would affect me directly and make my own life better as well as everyone around me. I can't speak much on the technical stack however, I learned so much from working along Lucas and I've definitely gained skills that last a lifetime! Show less

    • Software Engineer on a Project at the Patch Programme
      • Jul 2020 - Dec 2020

I co-founded Healthcloud with my friend Brian Kelleher with help from Patch at Dogpatch Labs. Healthcloud was a new and easy way for General Practitioners and Doctors to manage Patient Records. I received an entirely different insight into startups in general and also got the opportunity to be at the forefront of innovation in Ireland. With access to brilliant engineers and mentors from Stripe, Google and Google for Startups, Intercom, Facebook, Frontline Ventures, Dogpatch and many other companies, I was able to get more help and learn more skills faster while I embarked on this project. My main work consisted of helping full-stack as well as leading the development for a new Machine Learning Algorithm to help process more documents than we initially supported at a way quicker rate. I worked on a Japanese Reading application on a contractual basis and built some core features like the initial UI for some screens as well as the pop-up dictionary that includes Kanji, which is a language feature in Japanese. I did some stuff related to Firebase but I was mainly focused on the Frontend. The application itself was built in Flutter in Google's Dart programming language. I sometimes deviated working with native languages such as Swift and Java but there wasn't really much need to for this particular project. Show less

When I was 9 years old, armed with my love for computing and a passion for new technologies, I began to start to teach myself how to code. I quickly got into the routine of coming up with a new project every single summer / year to work on. This allowed me to quickly gain a proficiency and the ability to quickly pick up new technologies and programming languages as I go along! I signed up for a CoderDojo in my school that was being hosted at the Twitter EMEA Headquarters in Dublin. During my time, I mainly worked on my own project on my own terms as I was deemed to be ahead of the cohort at the time by my mentors. I worked on a messaging application called Infinity that made messages more personal by allowing you to do more beyond text. I won the Best Mobile Application award along with my friend Paweł Konkol which turned out to be an award sponsored by Dogpatch Labs and the beginning of my long partnership with the team at Dogpatch!
