Volunteer Game Environment Artist
-
Nov 2017 - Dec 2018
Over the period of 12 months I worked part time in a small team to help create a puzzle stealth platformer aimed at consoles. I was responsible for the creation of environment assets/props and to help bring the ideas of the team to life. During my time there I created a highly adaptive environment in Unity (game engine) which allowed the team to change the colours/ season of the environment with ease. I also developed material shaders such as water, vertex wind, waterfalls and an adaptive moss material that scaled the texture size based on the size of the object in the world. As the only somewhat permanent environment artist on the team, I also had to make sure that the art style could easily be picked up by new volunteers. I designed numerous tileable textures and smart materials (Substance Painter) to help keep the art style consistent across multiple members.
