As a client of Ten10, I worked on the newly developed food to order functionality created by Morrisons. The product was created to allow customers to order food to be collected within store along with ordering personalised items, such as birthday cakes. The project involved two core products- the customer website and the colleague app (used to pick the items in store). The basis of the project involved mostly functional and integration testing in an agile process. There were elements of automation used to create repeat test orders along with the use of different programmes to complete end to end testing - such as Salesforce.

My initial role in this position was to create a database in Microsoft Excel that split clients into geographical locations in order to reduce fuel consumption and reduce costs for the company. The database was then repeatedly adapted to add more information- such as keeping track of client's stock. As my role developed, I aided the sales team by contacting potential new clients and liaising with existing ones. I completed a Joint Honours course at Newcastle University in Mathematics and Economics. The Economic side of my course involved learning in depth knowledge in both Macroeconomics and Microeconomics before delving further in Advanced Microeconomics and Game Theory in Third year. I completed a project analysing of the stability of the Euro currency and the EU as a currency union. Mathematically, I covered Applied Mathematics before focusing my efforts on Statistics. This involved analysing big data sets such as medical records and football statistics. Whilst studying in these modules, I developed coding skills for simulation in both MatLab and rStudio. In my final year, I completed a career development module that detailed skills in communication, teamwork and leadership and allowed me to apply these at a work placement.

I helped with the reconstruction of Pontefract castle. This meant working as part of a team to contribute to a long term final project. The position allowed me to be part of a newly established company whilst also gave me an insight on a completely different industry to any I was used to. Local Lettings Ltd. is a local letting agency primarily providing temporary housing for those on housing benefits or in difficult circumstances. My roles here were extremely varied. Initially I was conducting basic office tasks such as creating a filing system. However, over my time at the company the position diversified to being more involved with clients. I was the first point of contact and would take client requirements into account before searching for suitable recommendations. I became very accustomed to the industry and also spent time working with an external accountant.
