After the success of the previous internship I was invited back for another placement, with the Advanced turbine Blade Casting Facility project team. The new £70 million turbine blade facility was in plans for construction by 2014. I was involved in a variety of tasks which contributed to the project planning. Role: Operations and layout summer intern. Achievements: Completed a report justifying the environmental settings/ tolerances needed throughout the new facility to meet the complex manufacturing process requirements. This report would be referenced by the architects. Produced a criticality matrix for all production equipment in the facility. Organised necessary storage equipment and priced a number of catalog equipment. Documented and proposed the future state of quality assurance procedures used. Show less

I used Lean Sigma tools to improve the manufacturing process standards, and also proposed and implemented new ideas.
