    • Launch Vehicles Engineering Intern
      • Jan 2015 - Aug 2015

I worked on the NASA Sounding Rockets Operations Contract with Orbital ATK as the Launch Vehicles department's intern. While there I was able to work on three exciting design projects that contributed to mission work. From day to day, I spent time gaining experience in: analysis of data, technical writing, and technical presentation while working on post-flight mission work. I also participated in community outreach, by going to local schools and camps to inspire interest in math, science, and engineering. During my main project, I was tasked with the design of a fixture for a static fire of ten rocket motors. This process required me to model the fixture, complete a stress analysis of the fixture, create mechanical drawing of the fixture, follow the machining process, and design procedures for build-up of the fixture and for firing the motors. All of these tasks were completed within quick turn-around time and using predominantly parts from our machine shop. My fixture facilitated a successful test in which mission critical information was learned.
