Investment Summer Analyst

Worked mainly with the Portfolio Management team where I undertook a number of projects, including: creating an Excel flagging tool, creating VBA Macros for manual Excel tasks and summarising the clients' investment guidelines into one page summaries. Also worked with the Analyst team, creating issuer profiles for companies based on financial reports and attending investor roadshows on new issuers and presenting my evaluation. Created and presented two major reports: one on how a book we were given, Adaptive Markets, could provide insight to the work of my team and another presenting a full credit evaulation of a company of my choosing. Contributed to raising £3,500 for the Bromley-by-Bow charity in an intern CSR challenge. Exposure to desks in; Trading, Global Capital Markets, RMBS, CMBS and private equity.

Work Placement

• Coordinated a project to analyse exit strategies by identifying a number of buy and sell candlestick formations among a huge data set and then analyse the returns on using a number of exit strategies from that point. - Produced an Excel spreadsheet to identify buy and sell candlestick patterns amongst the Bloomberg data. - Developed the spreadsheet to analyse the returns produced from a number of exit strategies, using a number of complex functions and some basic VBA coding. - Continued to collaborate on the project with my Tilney supervisor after the placement finished.

Summer work placement at Jefferies investment bank • Summarized financial articles and news reports, including a morning news report published to the entire UK office. • Extracted key data from annual reports and updating analyst reports. • Edited and formatted Excel and Powerpoint documents used in presentations to clients. • Shadowed different parts of the organisation, including the corporate finance team and the trading floor. • Participated in an AGM for a client company, a financial briefing from a client company to the Jeffries analysts, an internal town hall meeting and a dinner led by the CEO and senior management.
