The Experimental Rocket Propulsion Lab (ERPL), focuses on researching and designing hybrid and liquid rocket engines through different projects. I have been involved in Atlas and CNC during my time as a freshman and have learned the following: - Atlas is appropriately named as it holds up many other projects and the organization itself. Atlas is the test stand from which many of the rocket engines can and have fired from. My involvement has been designing a flame diverter for future vertical engine testing, and securing the test stand for the successful hot fire testing of another project, Odyssey. - CNC has also been very educational, as it’s goal has been and continue to be to CNC all the necessary parts for all the projects in the organization. I am involved in this year's Design, Build, Fly competition where our AIAA chapter, as the name suggests, designs a plane with the given constraints and challenges, constructs and combines each of the parts into a flyable UAV, and flies it in a set course to try receiving the best results in a competition that we can. I am involved in the advanced manufacturing team and therefore, the construction process. Throughout the process, we have and will create and shape composites, work directly with epoxy, and form the UAV as best we can prior to the competition! Show less
