    • Head of Vehicle Dynamics

Responsibly for quantifying the performance of the vehicle in detail, working closely with all other vehicle subteams to produce an accurate representation of the vehicle. I am also responsible for managing a team of 13 people in the design and development of the Braking, Suspension, Steering, and Pedal Box assemblies. This role requires me to identify and certify through the representative system and assembly models specifications of load cases; fatigue life profiles; fitments and clearance requirements; manufacturability; testing and validation plans. I achieve these through a number of models ranging from geometric analysis tools developed through CAD, use of OEM analysis software tools, to bespoke mathematical simulations and models largely developed in MATLAB. These allowed for modeling the vehicle and systems depending on requirements. Ranging from simple point mass models for initial developments, to varying levels of bicycle and twin-track models for more detailed dynamic analysis. Selection of the model is based upon the desired requirements at the time for example, 2D and 3D kinematic models for linkage and steering performance analysis and fitments. To hydraulic system modeling and thermal analysis for braking systems. Within this role, I also work with the Autonomous branch of the team to help them quantify and predict the dynamic performance of their vehicle platform. This requires working between the two vehicles and, although the base physics of the models are the same, I need to be flexible in the exact execution of the model and how it is constructed as the output requirements and model use case are quite different from our own driver-controlled vehicle. I also work to produce models and identify key parameters critical to vehicle performance which can be dynamically analyzed by the team's AI software as part of their pipeline through model predictive control systems. • Kitchen, Bathroom and Bedroom Designer
      • Jul 2020 - Sep 2021

Developed higher-level communication and product design skills to clearly identify the customer’s requirement for purchasing a bespoke kitchen, bathroom, and/or bedroom. This includes being able to negotiate alternatives when supply or budget issues exceed the customer’s expectations. The relationship with the customer is longer terms and I keep them informed of progress and ensure they are satisfied with the products and our service during that time.

    • Engineering Team Lead
      • Jul 2019 - Jul 2021

This role required the management of a small team of between 10 and 5 volunteers, depending on the year, from unique disciplines and levels of experience. This included leading the development cycle of each year's vehicle from concept through to production, testing, and validation. Such development oversight required developing the overall vehicle targets and scope of developments deemed achievable within our resources each year. This challenge also extended to providing sub-teams with quantifiable and achievable targets based on desired vehicle characteristics such as lap time performance, budget, and reliability targets. The engineering developments which I was personally responsible for covered the Suspension, Steering, Braking, and Chassis systems. Through the years I had different levels of responsibility of these systems, with earlier years within the team focused on more component development. During my time in this role, I was responsible for the system-level developments whilst providing learning and teaching opportunities for newer members with clear specifications of load cases, fatigue life profiles, testing, and validation plans. I achieved these through a number of models ranging from geometric analysis tools developed through CAD, use of existing analysis software tools, to bespoke mathematical simulations and models developed in MATLAB. These allowed for modeling the vehicle and systems depending on requirements from simple point mass models for initial developments, to bicycle and twin-track models for more detailed dynamic analysis. 2D and 3D kinematic models for linkage and steering analysis. Hydraulic system modeling and thermal analysis for braking systems.I also worked with other members of the team developing aerodynamic and IC powertrain models to review overall vehicle performance, however, I wasn't too heavily involved in detailed component development on that aspect of the vehicle.
