Routes is a social enterprise born to champion women, connect communities and inspire real change through mentoring programmes and theatre workshops. We pair pairing early to mid-career women in London with refugee and asylum-seeking women, for a four-month mentoring programme. Pairs are matched based on skill sets, personal/professional interests and location and our mentors are trained in communication and listening skills, leadership and coaching techniques. We support everyone to develop a meaningful relationship, built on mutual trust and respect. The result is real impact in the lives of our mentees, as well as a cohort of purposeful future leaders and change makers, who are more compassionate, patient and aware of the situation of those seeking asylum in the UK. We also run theatre workshops for women with experience of the asylum system in the UK which build confidence, social connections and English skills. We run these in collaboration with theatres across London including The Young Vic and Arcola Theatre. In 2019 we ran a conference at the National Theatre exploring how theatres can create places and spaces of welcome for those seeking sanctuary in the UK. Show less

Community Development Consultant

Aug 2017 - Oct 2017
Origin's Community Development Team are moving towards a preventative model of intervention with tenancy sustainability. Our consultancy team developed an understanding of the web of factors that lead to an increase in vulnerability among Origin's general needs tenants. This was then used to create a prototype of an interface that can be integrated into their CRM to help staff communicate about who they are concerned about and what support has been provided. This tool will help Origin capture the data needed to do future data analysis and move towards a preventative, predictive interventions. Show less
