A small group of Youth Voices was selected from a diverse pool of Canadian applicants to attend a cumulative one-week, hybrid modality, intensive Member of Parliament (MP) advocacy training with the Canadian Foodgrains Bank and partner umbrella organizations. The training consisted of various seminars regarding the organization and its actions as a civil society organization (CSO), domestically and in the Global South to provide gender-sensitive and conservation agriculture-based food systems aid to reduce hunger. Training also consisted of two panels: an international development panel, focused on professionals from non-governmental organizations (NGOs) sharing their collective experience in the international development field, and a multi-partisan MP panel sharing advice on lobbying and advocacy at parliament. Youth Voices were partnered with a board member, stemming from one of the umbrella organizations (in this case the Salvation Army). In a team, Youth Voices and the board member organized messaging for and conducted MP lobbying meetings, focused on. increases to international aid and food-systems funding. A parliamentary reception and debrief meetings were conducted after the Hill Day parliamentary lobbying efforts. Show less
