  I assisted Dr. Rudman with various strength tests on Recycled Concrete Aggregate (RCA) and Recycled Masonry (RM). This was in line with the work mandated to Dr. Rudman as well as other associates to create a new SANS code which guides engineers in the use of RCA and RM in pavement engineering.   I used the communication skills I learnt during my run as Secretary of the Toastmasters Society of Prince Edward School to hold impromptu conversations with English learners from around the world with the aim of improving their English-speaking abilities. My approach involved encouraging the student to speak as much as they could on any topic they fancied without interruption, judgment or pressure.
