Leslie Ferris Yerger gave a wonderful talk to my MT PEO chapter on her quest to enlighten women on dense breast testing and to encourage everyone to proactively ask questions that will lead to better testing, treatment and lives saved. Leslie’s journey of having a catastrophic diagnosis and what that diagnosis propels her to do is remarkable. Her story of advancing breast cancer testing, raising funds for MBI (Molecular Breast Imaging) and her 500 mile walk of the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage discussed in her book,
Maverick Victor Peters
Leslie and I had a wonderful discussion for my podcast, "Maverick Mondays". She offered extremely wise advice for girls and women who might be going through what she went through as well as what needs to change in Breast Cancer Awareness. Her message and cause are both noble and extremely important. As interviews go, recording with Leslie was definitely one to remember. I highly encourage and recommend connecting with Leslie if you get such an opportunity. She's a delight to work with!

At My Density Matters, we empower women to find out their breast density, learn their screening options, and insist on essential additional screening. We envision a world where breast density no longer hinders the early detection of breast cancer. I am a speaker and first time author of Probably Benign with a laser focused mission of disrupting the status quo in breast cancer screening. I was diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer in November 2017 after an ‘all clear’ mammogram and ultrasound, experiencing first hand the failings of our current breast cancer screening technologies. I am now determined to advance the next generation in breast cancer screening, so that my story does not become your story. Armed with humor and wisdom, courage and grace, knowledge and scientific data, I speak and write in order to empower women everywhere to ask, learn, insist, and persist in order to get the breast cancer screening they so very much deserve. I draw on the stamina and confidence I gained walking the 500 mile Camino de Santiago pilgrimage in Spain to fuel my passion and energy to expedite change in breast cancer screening, so that more women with breast cancer become survivors. As a stage IV cancer thriver, I know how devastating, stressful, and overwhelming life post-diagnosis can be. Even so, while living with cancer, we still want to live life to the fullest and enjoy every moment. I coach those living with cancer to reframe, reprioritize, and take control so that they can live their best lives yet.
