  Sunbar Restaurant Lounge aquired the site that once was occupied by Rupert Murdochs first printing press, Sun Newspapers in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley. Sunbar established itself as Brisbane's favourite multi entertainment venue for fine dining, cocktails and a unique eclectic mix of music from local and national Dj's and Bands. A 25 - 30 something demographic filled the gap in the market as the Valley was typically for a younger age group. Awards included 2nd Place in Australia for Best New Restaurant & Bar in 2003 and Bar of the Year in Queensland in 2004 and placed 3rd in Australia in the same category for Bartender Magazine Australia. In the 5 years of operation, Sunbar stayed ahead of it's competitors with cutting edge promotions and providing diners with some of the best Queensland chef. Sunbar was sold to the Sciacca Group in 2008.
