Krause and Elizabeth Ringger Krause Endowed Chair for Hispanic Ministries (since 2007), I oversee and carry out Latino/a theological education initiatives in partnership with Concordia Seminary faculty and U.S. Hispanic/Latino constituencies. These initiatives include the formation of Hispanic pastors and deaconesses in the Spanish language (certificate program), the implementation of a graduate path of theological study (M.A. in theology offered in Spanish), and the preparation of lectures, publications, and workshops on issues related to Hispanic/Latino issues and missions for English and Spanish-speaking audiences (e.g., Annual Lecture in Hispanic/Latino Theology and Missions, the triennial Hispanic Lutheran Theological Consultation, Continuing Ed workshops).As Director of the Center for Hispanic Studies (CHS) of Concordia Seminary, I have been privileged to offer leadership in the following areas:1. Oversight of the completion of the transition of the former Hispanic Institute of Theology in Chicago, IL. to the campus of Concordia Seminary (CSL), St. Louis, MO. and its rebranding as the Center for Hispanic Studies (CHS).2. Promotion and nurturing of the ongoing, meaningful, and contextually appropriate integration of CHS processes into CSL within the Division of Ministerial Formation.3. Partnering with the Dean of Research and Publications in the planning and promotion of the CHS Annual Lecture in Hispanic/Latino Theology and Missions, and in the publication of media related to Hispanic/Latino issues.4. Partnering with the CSL faculty and Graduate School in the implementation of an online M.A. in theology offered in the Spanish language, which is open both to qualified CHS certificate U.S. students and to Latin American Lutheran students who already have pastoral or deaconess formation.
