Analysis of ncRNA expression and dynamics during zebrafish development as well as the impact of epitranscriptomic modifications (6meA) in the control of miRNA-mediated mRNA regulation. Assessment of transgenerational effect of environmental stressors such as ionizing radiation in zebrafish, determined by expression profile of coding and ncRNAs, DNA methylation and histone post translational modifications. This research involved protein coding and non-coding transcriptome sequencing, whole genome bisulfite sequencing. NGS data analysis, NGS data association, and statistics. Validation of results with state of the art methods (RT-qPCR). Thesis title: Transcriptome profiling during zebrafish embryogenesis: miRNA dynamics and gamma radiation effect.

As part of the group Aquaculture Biotechnology at the Division of Animal Biotechnology. We carried research to improving growth, reproduction, resistance to stress and diseases in aquatic organism. Genetic transformation of white shrimp (Litopenaeus Schmitti) using tilapia growth hormone. Physiological modulation of growth rate by means of metabolic and endocrine modulators in aquatic organisms. Obtention of tilapia monosex populations by means of crossbreeding. Diseases control and stress resistance in crustaceans and fish by means of probiotics and bacteriophages. In these researches several state of the art techniques were implemented, molecular biology (nucleic acid isolation, gene isolation and sequencing, cloning, transfection, gene expression, standard and RT-qPCR) immunology (ELISA, DOT and Western Blot, immunohistochemistry, antibody mapping) biochemistry (protein purification, receptor assays, enzymatic assays), Microbiology (culture media design, molecular and biochemical bacterial identification (RFLP, 18S), bacterial bank preparation, bacterial formulation and stability, antibiosis assays, bacterial fermentation in bioreactors). While working here I received additional training in nutrition of shrimps and on the usage of Phage Display Random Peptide Libraries for the mapping of antibodies and peptide identification and isolation.
