District ESOL Support Services (Previous Spanish Teacher 2018-2022)
-
Jul 2018 - Present
The teacher's responsibilities also include managing the classroom, students, paraprofessionals, and volunteers as well as engaging parents, developing professionally, maintaining compliance, and overseeing the ESOL and Spanish programs. They identify student needs, create lesson plans, and carry out interactive learning experiences while demonstrating competence in the WIDA Framework and GA Standards of Excellence. They use technology well and keep in touch with their parents frequently. They uphold expectations for student conduct, keep tabs on students' academic progress, take part in the MTSS process, and plan for absences. MTSS stands for multi-tiered system of supports. It's a framework many schools use to give targeted support to struggling students. You may also hear it called the MTSS framework, the MTSS process, or the MTSS model. MTSS is designed to help schools identify struggling students early and intervene quickly. The MTSS framework is comprised of four essential components: screening, progress monitoring, multi-level prevention system, and data-based decision making. Along with supporting parents and the neighborhood school, the teacher also designs and conducts parent and family involvement workshops and keeps up annual WIDA Screener and ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 certifications. They provide training at nearby schools, take part in professional learning, and keep up with trends in EL accomplishment. Show less
