I was Head of A&R (previously A&R Manager) at London based independent music publishers Psychotic Reaction Music. Notable signings to the company included Nao who I helped sign in 2014 after hearing one song on Soundcloud, a track called ‘So Good’. During my time at the company, Nao received nominations for Album of the Year at the Mercury Prize in 2019 and Best Urban Contemporary Album at the 62nd Grammy Awards in 2020 for her 2nd album 'SATURN'. Other signings included producer Clarence Clarity who is currently Rina Sawayama's exec producer, of which I helped pair them two together, Christian Alexander who's debut album was produced by Brockhampton and released on their label Video Store, and SW Ldn based singer, songwriter, producer Fabiana Palladino. Other achievements, I was involved in securing the company’s partnership with Warp Publishing in 2021, and I received a Brit certified gold disk for Nao’s debut album ‘For All We Know’, a top 20 UK album in 2016. My role included booking, promoting and overseeing all live music events at Hoxton Square Bar and Kitchen, a fledging 300 capacity live music venue in Hoxton, East London. I promoted in-house shows and worked closely with national and independent promoters, ran a busy live calendar, oversaw all marketing decisions and headed up a team of 3. Some shows booked: Metronomy, Charli XCX, Florence & The Machine, Jonathan Richman (The Modern Lovers) and Spacemen 3 to name a few. During my time at the venue I started a live promotions company Popular Promotions, shows included Grimes' debut London show, Warpaint, The Drums, Public Service Broadcasting, and Big Freedia's first UK performance. We also released 7” singles by new London based artists via Popular Recordings including Southgate's 4 piece Wild Palms, who I also managed and signed a long term record deal with One Little Indian Records, home to Bjork.
