PURPOSE OF POSITION To render Programme Management services to ensure effective Physical Resources Planning is done for schools within the Department of Education Eastern Cape. Manage a cross functional team of professional in the Build Environment inclusive of Public Service structures to achieve Effective and Efficient delivery of Infrastructure. Background The Eastern Cape Department of Education has an infrastructure stock which comprises 5 747 schools and 2,17m learners, together with various other facilities such as the Head Office, Further Education and Training Colleges, District Offices and In- Service Training Centers. These Facilities house approximately 77 000 staff. Over the past 18 years, (1996 – 2014) the Department has made significant inroads into eradicating backlogs and improving physical conditions at schools throughout the Province, at a cost of some (R8.4bn) $2,5billion US. The functions of this Programme Management position covers: 1.Budget and Planning for Infrastructure projects. 2. Economic and effective provisioning, maintenance of all Physical Facilities. 3.Rendering of administrative support with regards to the services and facilities. 4.Prioritization and building of schools in terms of the National Norms. Programme Managing the Sub Directorate: b.Programme Managing Physical Facilities Infrastructure Planning and Design Services OTHER AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING •Programme Management of Infrastructure assets as per Government Immovable Asset Management Act. •Preparation of Business Plans •Presentations on Infrastructure planning, IT and Information Systems. •Speech writing •Assist in preparation of Annual reports for Directorate/Chief Directorate. •Programming of projects.
