Leo worked for TNO Behaviour and Societal Sciences as a research scientist in the Training and Performance Innovation department. Here we investigate and create new innovative solutions that improve training and assessment of people using state-of-the-art virtual and augmented environments and personal learning assistance. At TNO, Leo developed a multi-agent platform for SCORM compliant training and assessment in live and simulated environments. In 2009, Leo also started a PhD project on Neural-Symbolic Cognitive Agents that can be used for human behaviour modeling. Show less

Leo worked on several projects in Space, Defense and Transport, like a security system for the Dutch railways, 3D Battlefield simulation, Virtual Shop Tooling and MMI development for mobile devices. The last two years I was a System Integrator at Siemens VDO for various navigation systems. There I implemented a new integration and test process which enabled Siemens VDO to meet its delivery deadlines and improve the stability of the software development process. StarLab was a deep future, multidisciplinary research institute, co-founded by MIT Media Lab founder Nicholas Negroponte and established in partnership with MIT, Oxford and Ghent. It was created as a "Noah's Ark" to bring together the world's most brilliant and creative scientists to work on far-ranging projects with the potential to hold a profound and positive impact on future generations. There Leo worked as a research scientist with Prof. Hugo de Garis on the CAM Brain Machine, a supercomputer for hardware accelerated growth of huge artificial neural networks using genetic algorithms, that was recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records in 2001 as the "World's Most Complex Artificial Brain".
