Crisis Screener / Crisis Manager (Per Diem)

Handled crisis screening assessments for adults and youth experiencing a psychiatric emergency. Offered assessment, support and stabilization in a team setting to safely resolve each individual’s behavioral health crises in a comprehensive yet optimistic manner. Oversaw operations for a six-bed Crisis Unit and a team of three screener staff on the Unit, along with 4-6 Outreach Screener personnel. Handled crisis screening including a full offering of services for those in acute psychiatric distress. Partnered with the Jefferson Health Care Systems Emergency Department to update the status of clients that were seen and met criteria for inpatient treatment, along with those clients still waiting to be seen. Ensured that staff members’ referrals for inpatient treatment were completed with attention to detail and timeliness. Perform mental health assessments on inmates that are recently incarcerated and brought into the County Correctional Facility; includes evaluating mental health history and current status. Handle suicide assessment and order proper precautions as needed. Pre-screen for medication management, ascertaining any need for further follow-up by a mental health provider. Also assess for substance use precautions and the need for someone to be placed on withdrawal protocol by the medical staff. Partner with County Prosecutors, Public Defenders, Private Attorneys and agencies including County DDD programs, Child Protection & Permanency, Drug Courts, County Probation Department and other necessary services on a regular basis. Work collaboratively to coordinate post-incarceration follow-up with services such as substance use and mental health programs. Senior Master Sergeant- Aerospace Medical Service (Retirement)

Working as 514th Wing Staff Career Advisor, offered information to members of the Air Force Reserves to benefit their respective careers; included information for retention, new school programs, bonus programs and counseling for current or future retirement. Aided members in submitting all required documentation to keep the retirement transition smooth. Completed all required paperwork for members to reenlist in the Air Force Reserve. Joined with all Unit Career Advisors from 2014 – 2016, helping wing retention rise from 66% to an all-time high of 92%. As Superintendent of the 514th Medical Education and Readiness Sustainment Skills Center (MERSSC), spearheaded medical and readiness educational programs. Crafted a new curriculum that included lectures and hands-on requirements for Registered Nurses (RNs) and Aerospace Medical Technicians. Guaranteed that this educational platform exceeded Air Force required standards of education. Created and led training for 78 National Registered Emergency Medical Technicians; saved an Air Force Unit $50K the first year with an estimated savings of ~$100K for the total two year project. Saw the training program serve as a benchmark; even after 8-10 years in existence, a number of Air Force Reserves units still use this same program to date. Managed and led 127 enlisted personnel, confirming all training requirements were met and personnel were 100% qualified and ready for possible deployments at a moment’s notice. Supervised patient care of beneficiaries including flying and special operations personnel. Delivered routine patient care, assessment treatment specific beneficiaries, including flying and special operational duty personnel. Verified the presence of a sound medical environment for all patients, leading support activities for inpatient care including contingency operations and disasters.
