  STEP is a detention-based post-adjudication, pre-disposition program with a focus on the short-term evaluation, stabilization, and treatment of juvenile offenders and their families. Responsibilities include program development, implementation, and oversight of STEP program; conducting full battery psychological assessments; submission of integrated report of findings to the Court and the youth’s probation officer; conducting multidisciplinary treatment team meetings for high needs youth in detention; educating probation officers about mental/behavioral health conditions as well as effective intervention strategies; providing individual, group, and family therapy for a diverse juvenile population in detention or on community based probation; completing clinical discharge summaries for youth upon the conclusion of their time in STEP; providing clinical supervision and consultation for externs and interns in graduate studies from colleges and universities.
