As District Deputy the past 3 years, it has been my privilege to work with Len in growing the Knights of Columbus in Northern Virginia the past 2 years while he was Grand Knight for the largest Council in the District (over 500 members). Len's attention to detail, compassion and strong work ethics was always visible, in force and appreciated by all affected. Serious issues/projects were handled ALWAYS with the utmost professionalism and discretion. Len demonstrated the finest in the principles practiced by the Knights - Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism. The Council and the Knights of Columbus is grateful for Len's tireless dedication to service. Jay McCarthy District Deputy 18 - Knights of Columbus

Was appointed by Virginia State Knights of Columbus to oversee four local councils with over 900 members in Herndon, Sterling, Potomac Falls, and Great Falls. This was a part-time volunteer position. Motivated leaders to strive for their respective goals in programs and membership growth. Also monitored completion of required reporting for councils to remain in compliance with Knights and legal requirements. NACCAS is a non-profit agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education to accredit trade schools that specialize in cosmetology, massage therapy, and related occupational areas. Currently it provides accreditation for approximately 1700 schools. In addition to the company's financial reporting, internal controls, and investment management, my position as director of finance includes responsibility for monitoring the financial condition of our accredited schools. To receive and maintain accredtiation with NACCAS, the schools must meet specified financial criteria. Show less

Served as leader of a family and fraternal organization with 400+ members that provides charitable service to the Catholic Church and local community. This was a part-time volunteer position. I was elected twice to one-year terms as Grand Knight of Council 6175. Our achievements during my tenure included the following: (1) Raised over $17,000 to support programs for the intellectually disabled in Virginia (2) Awarded $6,000 in scholarships to local high school students (3) Assisted several other charities such as Special Olympics through our "Helping Hands" program. (4) Achieved dramatic improvement in the organization's financial status through sale of Council Home. This led to a renewed focus on charitable service vs. building maintenance. Also as a result, two new successful councils were ultimately created in the area. Show less
