The Academy of Goal Achievers is a local youth group mentoring program focused on being a solution for the economic mobility crisis for underserved communities. We’re a resource for parents, students and school districts. Our work focus on, developing youth leaders and preparing high school students and parents for post-secondary education and careers that consist of a two generational approach. As the Transition Navigator I mentor both high school and college students in pursuing their goals with the support and knowledge they need to be tomorrows leaders.

No Kid Hungry (NKH) North Carolina is a non-profit organization focused on ending child hunger. Rather than directly providing meals to children, NKH focuses its efforts on connection and education. They connect children with nutritious food that is available to them but often under-utilized. Additionally, nutrition education is a critical component of NKH’s mission to make healthy, nutritious food accessible to all. However, as with many organizations, COVID-19 largely impacted the work of NKH. As a result, a new collaborative project, called The Carolina Hunger Initiative (CHI), was launched. CHI allows the staff at NKH to focus on understanding, analyzing, and creatively solving the issues (both new and old) confronted when attempting to safely continue meal services for the children who rely on them during this pandemic. Overall, both NKH and CHI provide valuable information and tools in the fight against hunger. As an intern I was able to collaborate on these impactful projects and work along side the team to end child hunger in NC!
