My primary assignment was to construct a Flight Operations Development Lab (FODL) for the human factors department. Tasks were to acquire equipment (computers, software, research, and miscellaneous supplies), research different airlines and discuss what could be done to make the communications between dispatchers and pilots more efficient, assemble computers, upload different software, create an operations manual for the FODL. Other tasks included coordinating multiple programs like Microsoft Office software, "in house" software, and Synergy to function simultaneously, present new findings, and new research technology. The final task was to create a presentation for the progress that was made in FODL. My next responsibility was to assist with performing Single Pilot Operations in the Flight Deck Display Research Lab (FDDRL). Tasks included debugging the simulator and tracking errors, greet pilots and test subjects for the lab, participation within simulations and executing multiple simulations throughout the day, and creating and correcting HTML documents used in the simulator. Each day while working at NASA was a new experience. I had the opportunity to learn about multiple projects and new developments within different engineering departs. Show less
