I was brought into Vivira Health Lab GmbH in order to help construct the IT department, due to the company not having any IT team prior to my joining. The company was rapidly scaling up, so there was a need to develop the necessary solutions to support the influx of users, as well as educate the existing users on the standard IT practices which would be implemented. Upon entry, myself and the head of InfoSec had the task of creating Standard Operating Procedures for use within the department, as well as providing regulatory and educational documentation for our existing applications. Some highlights of my work at Vivira include the implementation of JumpCloud as a mobile device management service, the creation of a help centre containing several operational service desks for use within the IT department itself as well as other departments, administration of Google workspace and Atlassian suite, and creating environments on Hetzner for use with projects which are in development, alongside the DevOps team. During several years of IT contracting, I worked in a variety of support and deployment/migration roles up to senior level. With all of these roles consisting of short-term contracts under 6 months, I had the task of adapting to different working environments from month to month - often having to up-skill fast with new systems which I had not previously encountered, and beginning to provide support for applications which were new to me within a short period of time. After my 1 year apprenticeship, I began my career as a Field Service Engineer with Canon UK. This consisted of installing and maintaining devices within Canon's office MFD range, often having to configure user devices and networks alongside the MFDs.

I started an apprenticeship with Canon UK in which the end goal was to become a fully qualified Field Service Engineer. The apprenticeship consisted of time at the Canon UK HQ in Reigate and also time at Highbury College in Portsmouth, along with field experience around Scotland. The time in Reigate consisted of training on Canon's office MFD range and also any other adequate training to help me in my job. At Highbury College i completed a course titled BTEC Level 3 Gold Standard in IT and Telecoms which included one part engineering and one part IT. Show less
