Project Title: Towards the next generation of wound treatments. I obtained my PhD from the University of Leeds, working with Dr Alex O'Neill. My research primarily focused on the development of novel anti-biofilm agents, to be used against the mixed species biofilms found on chronic wounds. My role as an education outreach fellow involves developing and delivering scientific talks and workshops. This role focuses on educational engagement with sixth form and high school students, working to encourage students from all backgrounds to pursue biological sciences at university. I have been able to improve upon my ability to deliver a message as complex as my PhD research to various audiences, whilst keeping the information factual and relevant. This role focuses on educational engagement with sixth form and high school students, working to encourage students from all backgrounds to pursue biological sciences at university. I have been able to improve upon my ability to deliver a message as complex as my PhD research to various audiences, whilst keeping the information factual and relevant. I am also involved with managing undergraduate students whilst they prepare to deliver their own outreach talks. This includes offering coaching and advice on communicating the appropriate message when attending colleges and schools.
