Project Title: Towards the next generation of wound treatments. I obtained my PhD from the University of Leeds, working with Dr Alex O'Neill. My research primarily focused on the development of novel anti-biofilm agents, to be used against the mixed species biofilms found on chronic wounds. My research also looked to determine the antibacterial mechanism of action of novel agents and establish how biofilms are maintained. I have been able to improve upon my ability to deliver a message as complex as my PhD research to various audiences, whilst keeping the information factual and relevant. I am also involved with managing undergraduate students whilst they prepare to deliver their own outreach talks. This includes offering coaching and advice on communicating the appropriate message when attending colleges and schools.
