At Harding Elementary, I service K-3 students within a Resource Room setting utilizing many strategies and interventions as well as handling any behavior challenges while adhering to Ohio learning standards. I promote different styles of learning to allow for creativity and progress to occur. The previous year I was an inclusion teacher for K-4th grade. I write and implement my students' IEP's and contact home once a week. I collect multiple pieces of data a week on my students per their goals and objectives to show their growth. This data is turned into a portfolio at the end of the year for their families. Some of my accomplishments: • Initiated a Mentor/Mentee program matching 7th and 8th grade students with 3rd – 5th grade students to establish bonds to teach the upper grades responsibility and friendship; the younger students were able to have someone to help with behavior, grades, and someone to talk to • Mentored Resident Educator teachers within the program as a Resident Educator • Created, organized, and implemented a school-wide behavior contest for the 2016-2017 school year • Member of Culture and Climate Club which organized and held activities within the school to highlight different PBIS strategies specific to our school • Taught in the After-School program for students who needed extra help and with homework • Member of DLT and BLT Leadership groups who worked closely with the administration in the district to introduce and implement the new pedagogical approaches to our district • Established and demonstrated above average abilities to accurately maintain student records, and prepare reports on students and their activities, as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations. • Part of the team that fulfilled all of the requirements of the Ohio Department of Education’s Corrective Action Plan for the district Show less

In a dropout-recovery high school setting, students come from different areas to try to complete their high school diploma in a different setting. These students in this setting struggled to make it in a traditional school setting due to a variety of reasons. EVERY one of my students I worked with graduated with their diploma. I serviced and held meetings for over 30 high school students while another teacher wrote IEP's based on data I administered and/or gathered. As my first K-8 school teaching position, I worked with another IS who taught grades 5-8, and I taught K-3 and shared 4th grade. During my time, I cultivated students’ learning in academia using clear objectives, a variety of special education strategies including phonics, phonemic awareness, multi-sensory learning (Universal Design (UDL), and repetition to reinforce learning to meet students' varying needs and interests. With the help of my co-teacher and SLP's, I helped create, collaborate, and implement a Virtual Speech/Language Therapy program. I also developed ESL (English as a Second Language) student’s English language to show growth of .75-1.0 years by activating the associative learning capacities of the brain. To help my EL students learn how to use a dictionary, Co-Created and implemented a “Dictionary Boot Camp” for EL students. Because there was a very big gap, I taught socially acceptable behavior, employing techniques such as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and positive reinforcement (PBIS). As a Special Education teacher, I established and demonstrated abilities to accurately maintain student records, and prepare reports on students and their activities, as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.
