The Barber Fellowship is a full-time paid position where students are selected by WSU professors and research faculty out of a pool of applicants. The project for the summer is stem cell and OB/GYN research studying the effects of environmental stressors, specifically benzopyrine, on trophoblast stem cells in an in vitro model to model miscarriage and pregnancy loss at early stages. Analysis of TS cell growth is done using Fiji ImageJ software and Cytation5 software. Research with live cells requires consistent passaging and monitoring of cells via micrography in order to optimize their conditions. Show less
