My role is to provide support to all our existing customers on a 24/7 basis. This involves daily email and telephone correspondence with international customers and if necessary ‘out of hours’ support via VPN access. Within Support I am heavily involved in multiple SS7 protocols (mainly ISUP) along with other protocols such as ISDN, SIP, VXML and TCP/IP. I am also expected to support the hardware and Operating Systems of our servers which are Redhat Linux and Solaris based.Installation duties will take me overseas, where I am responsible for physical installation and commissioning. This involves liaising with the customer and sub contractor teams, such as MSC vendors to ensure E1/T1 connectivity is swiftly in place within the tight deadlines.Fault replication is a major part of my role, as we look to mimic the customer issues using our laboratory models. We use several Windows based test tools and Traffic Generating Equipment for this, and have to ensure that our equipment is behaving within the specification of the protocol under test.
