I started as an apprentice where I shadowed my peers over all of the departments within engineering, I was taken on as a field technician where I spent my first years as a fibre engineer. I covered all aspects of the fibre network from installing our lightstream broadband product, blown fibre, UG and OH installations and faulting, OTDR, Cat5 cabling, and getting the best out of in-home wifi. I worked In both business and residential locations. I then moved over to the copper team where I mastered a variety of disciplines; installing and faulting ADSL and POTS, ISDN, use of JDSU-HST3000, UG and OH work (inc MEWP and JUP), UG jointing, cabling, joint remakes, network uplift, E side (pressure) and D side jointing and maintenance, VDSL, RF interference special faults investigation, converting POTS to VOIP. I excelled in this position and was promoted to senior engineer where I worked closely with my team leader on customer focus, hitting targets, right first time, delivering training and ensuring the quality and safety on the ground met the required standards. I dealt with customer complaints and prided myself in been able to turn bad customer experiences into good ones and also in getting awkward and tricky jobs done to achieve the results we wanted, I hold myself to a very high standard of safety and quality and take pride in everything I do no matter how big or small. I have been involved with large projects such as main cable diversions and customer migrations from legacy to new technology. I recently moved over to the full fibre expansion as a senior where my role is to supervise the teams installing our direct in ground tubing to provide the customer service to our full fibre network. This has given me knowledge and experience in new blown fibre techniques and civils work. Gained experience in supervising on the network build and expanded my knowledge in H&S, NRSWA, SROH, CDM2015, HSG47 etc.
