      Clean Cities is a US Department of Energy affiliated program promoting alternative fuels for transportation. The main goal of Clean Cities is to reduce our nation's dependence on foreign petroleum, while reducing mobile source emissions. The Clean Cities Program is the primary alternative fuels/vehicles deployment agency for the US DOE. The Greater New Haven Clean Cities Coalition, Inc. (GNHCCC) is one of four in Connecticut and 87 nation wide covering New Haven County, CT. The program works with local individuals, companies, municipalities, state and federal agencies to develope programs to further goals of the program. The GNHCCC is a non-profit organization, but other coalitions may be under other organizations as well as governmental agencies. The GNHCCC was designated by the US DOE in 1995. Lee Grannis was selected the Northeast Clean Cities Coordinator of the Year in 2004 and 2008. In September 2012 Grannis was inducted into the National Clean Cities Hall of Fame. In 2016 Grannis was awarded the Benjamin Watson Inspirational Award from the Clean Cities Coordinator Council. Lee is Treasurer of The Greater New Haven Transit District and also Treasurer of the national non-profit Transportation Energy Partnership (TEP). Show less
