I worked for the Academic Hospitals(Groote Schuur, Tygerberg , Oral Health and Red Cross Children's Hospital) during the 2000's as a System Administrator that dealt with the Procurement, Inventory and Finance management sectors at the Institutions. My acute knowledge of the Policy's that governed business processes in these sectors made for a better understanding of the crucial role i played within daily operations. Introducing Inventory Planning, Acquisition and Demand Planning via the ERP system , was my forte'. In 2010 I started a new chapter at Provincial Department of Health, Head Office. Here i worked as a Asset Management and Inventory Management practitioner in Supply Chain Management. Our team correlated financial reports that were submitted on a monthly basis from all institutions in the Western Cape. The reports would assist us in picking up irregularities or non-compliant practices. We would duly attend to it and make sure through training and proper communication that the correct processes be followed. Working so close with all the Institutions in the Province was a good experience , especially when dealing with so many different staff with such vastly different backgrounds. I specialised in Inventory Management and further enjoyed the engagement with the Pharmaceutical management staff. It wasn't easy working with the Pharmacist in the beginning but once i unpacked the history behind this blatant refusal to cooperate, it was clear that trust was at the root cause of this. I gained approval and with management behind me we engaged the Pharmacist differently and showed them the due respect we have for the work they do. It was amazing to see how my hard work had payed off and i will always be proud of that achievement and the relationships i built. Show less
