After spending over 2 valuable years working in the successful multi-media agency RP2, I felt it was time to capitalise on the brand management expertise that most clients know me for, and pursue a fresh new venture. Having witnessed first hand the role that media plays in the wider marketing mix, it became even more evident that some brands give little thought to their value proposition. I believe passionately that good brands need to start from within the business – So I decided to form a fresh new agency called Brand Elect. Brand Elect is a 'collaborations agency', and is part of an established community of creative and strategic minds offering business advice and numerous marketing services. I work with business owners and senior directors to empower the simple logic that a well-formed brand will have more success in it's growth and marketing execution. In a world where businesses are finding it difficult to find their own space in their marketplace, it's increasingly important for a business to be 'chosen' – Brand Elect (or BE as we're known as) provides clients with, Strategy, Purpose and most importantly, Energy (for staff and marketing communications alike). After successfully founding and developing Pepagon Limited as a leading brand communications agency over the last 6 years both here in the UK and also the Asia Pacific region, we were delighted with the opportunity to join with one of the UK's largest independent media agencies (Rathbone Perception Media). This new collaboration has formed a brand new integrated agency called RP2. As Commercial Director, I work with associate directors of the business to drive business growth by delivering fresh integrated solutions to new and existing clients. My primary role is to head our brand management team by promoting a full suite of marketing disciplines through branded content & creative communication for our clients. I also drive brand realignment campaigns for numerous businesses (often reigniting a company or brand's value proposition). I leverage relationships through my existing network of clients and partners, as well as developing new opportunities and business initiatives. Drawing on the experienced gained over the years (including breaking in to the Far Eastern market with Pepagon), I now deliver a much wider array of services to a truly global market; from brand creation, marketing content (& product development), through to media planning / placement and video & creative direction (both on and off-line). After spending 12 years in the promotional merchandise sector, I sought a new challenge in the brand journey space. The years spent working with bluechip brands and marketing agencies afforded me valuable experience in brand behaviour and customer engagement, so with a good friend I have formed a brand engagement and product development company - Pepagon is born. As director of our business, I have the opportunity to work with some amazing clients, supporting and building brand stories, marketing activities and promotional mechanics. However I get most enjoyment in building brands from the inside out. This holistic approach helps me recognise the very essence behind a company's promise - Working closely with business owners, we enable our clients to live the brand through their actions - this usually promotes powerful and relevant communication and conversation (to staff and clients alike). Pepagon have created a unique position in the UK marketing arena, and our previous experience working with China has seen our company profile grow in line with growing business demands, internationally. Working closely with UKTI, and a number of global financial institutes, we have become marketing partners to many businesses in the UK and Asia Pacific. I was headhunted from Watches of Switzerland by a company that pioneered the promotional watch industry. I joined as Account Manager at Olympic Promotional Watches, and at the time there was only 5 people in the business. I brought with me a good knowledge of the promotional landscape along with a drive to grow this exciting business. By 1997, I held a number of key accounts for the company, and the business saw the start of an impressive growth expansion. In 1998, I had the opportunity to travel and work with suppliers in Hong Kong. At this time we could see our clients requiring more services and products from our business. Inevitably, over time, promotional watches became promotional products. In 1999 the business changed its name to Olympic Promotional Products, and I quickly became the leading account handler (mostly working with marketing agencies and brands together). In 2002, I won and secured Scottish Courage (or Heineken as we know them now) to our business, and we held this account for 6 years under my tenner). I was promoted to Account Director in 2004, and my team and I accounted for 75% of the business profit for a number of years. Working closely with FMCG brands (especially in the drinks, beverage and health & beauty sectors over the years) gave me great insight into the consumer and brand journey - I left Promo International pursuing pastures new at the end of 2007. I started my life in commerce working in the 'Presentation department' at the luxury gifts retailer Watches of Switzerland. In those days, companies were still promoting long service awards (commemorative watches and clocks were commonplace). I worked with a small team preparing presentation gifts to numerous companies, and in April of 1989, I was afforded the opportunity to meet clients with my peers. In the late 80's the commercial landscape changed dramatically, and long service awards fast became incentive and motivation awards - a new industry was born. I began my apprenticeship in this exciting sector as an assistant to experienced account managers and directors, and became Account Executive for the first time in 1988. By 1989, I had attending numerous trade exhibitions and held a select number of my own accounts. We relocated our office in Central London in 1992, and there I was promoted to Account Manager. From here I became the leading account handler in the business, and enjoyed some wonderful relationships with clients in the UK and Europe (some I still have today). My time at Watches of Switzerland will be remembered with great fondness, as without the people who saw something in me back in 1986, I wouldn't have progressed in the wider marketing arena.
