Independently programmed and system administrated a local business review, referral, and loyalty system with Ruby on Rails from a bare bones Ubuntu VPS. The system incorporates three unique user subsystems for normal reviewing members, business members, and administrators. The normal user can edit their profile, upload images, and write reviews and referrals for a business. A loyalty program for businesses integrates with a payment gateway, which rewards the business with custom subdomains, referral coupons, customized promotional pdfs, internal messaging, and analytic reporting. The system delivers html content through a Nginx proxy server and Unicorn http server. Background email processing is handled by Resque processor and data storage is implemented in MySql, Redis and Thinking Sphinx for fast searching and caching. Show less

Developed an advertising and lead generation system using Ruby on Rails that delivers ad content across various advertising channels. Ads for the system are created manually by users or automated through customized XML or CSV feed parsers, and along with web site scraping. The clients' ad inventory can being fully integrated into a Facebook Fan Page and the Twitter API is utilized to post individual ad content. Ads are tracked and analyzed via customized web reporting tools. Lead generation is a combination of email leads and call tracking that is integrated into each ad and web site. Semi-automated tools such as a bookmarklet and browser plugins let clients easily post their ads onto Craigslist. Clients receive an individual micro web site with their ad inventory and also access to the administrative web site for editing and viewing their inventory, analytics, and leads. Agency clients have a fully featured white labeled portal with unique ad placement sections, SEO optimized, and the ability to spotlight dealers and ads. All the web sites run on Unix with the proxy server being Nginx and the application server Unicorn. The data storage is Mysql. Show less
